Frequently Asked Questions

What is kitting and assembly in a warehouse?

Kitting is the process of taking individual products and combining them into a single packaged unit before shipment, such as a bundle pack, subscription box, gift set, or promotional kit. Assembly means putting components together into a finished product or display. At Phoenix Warehouse, kitted units are scanned into Synapse as a new SKU so inventory reflects finished kits, not just loose components.

Co-packing (contract packaging) means repackaging an existing product into new retail-ready packaging, such as combining items into a multipack, shrink wrapping a bundle, or repacking goods into display-ready cartons. Kitting combines separate SKUs into one unit. Co-packing changes how a single product is packaged. Phoenix Warehouse handles both from our Jersey City facility, with no minimum order and all work tracked in real time through Synapse WMS.

FBA prep is the process of preparing products to meet Amazon’s fulfillment center requirements before shipment. It includes FNSKU labeling, poly bagging, bubble wrapping, suffocation stickers, and carton marking per Amazon’s current prep guidelines. We prepare FBA shipments from our Jersey City facility and ship directly to the Amazon fulfillment center you specify. No minimum quantity per SKU.

Yes. Products arriving from overseas by container frequently need relabeling, inspection, or repackaging before going to retail stores or ecommerce fulfillment. Our warehouse is one mile from Port Newark, so we receive containers, unload them, and begin VAS work without any intermediate freight move. Importers consolidate container receipt and prep at the same location, saving time and a separate truck delivery.

No minimum volume or order size for any value-added service. We handle one-time projects alongside ongoing recurring runs. Setup instructions for kitting, FBA prep, or relabeling are built into your Synapse account so every unit is processed the same way every time, regardless of volume.

All value-added services work is tracked in real time through Synapse WMS. You can log in at any time to see completed kits by SKU, units processed, QC pass/fail counts, and outbound shipment status. For retail clients, we add retailer-specific reporting: compliance documentation by purchase order and delivery confirmation by store location. No calls to the warehouse needed to check status.

From our Jersey City facility, we provide kitting and assembly services, Amazon FBA prep service, co-packing services, repacking and reboxing, relabeling and price ticketing, quality control inspection, palletizing and shrink wrapping, and custom packaging and inserts. As a 3PL kitting services provider, we handle all of these with no minimum order from the same facility as your warehousing and fulfillment, one mile from Port Newark.
